Celebrating Some Singular Titles

It’s an exciting time in the kidlit world—the Caldecott Award winner (and many other award winners) will be announced on January 22. Hari & Deepti, the illustrators of my new picture book We, the Curious Ones, weren’t under consideration for this award, despite their breathtaking artwork, since the title doesn’t fit within the guidelines. But that just makes it even more of a thrill to see Betsy Bird’s lovely callout of the book on her list of “Caldenotts,” titles she is celebrating despite their ineligibility; it’s a privilege to find my book in such exquisite company!
